Curious about mindfulness meditation? Perhaps you have heard the hype or seen the long lists of benefits. Maybe you are wondering how mindfulness meditation can be such a powerful tool for becoming more present in daily life or how "just sitting" causes people to develop more compassion for both themselves and others. Or perhaps you would like to develop deeper insight into the nature of your mind and the world around you.
But how do you start? While meditation apps work well for some people, others prefer learning in-person. Maybe you would like to learn how to begin and maintain a daily practice and the basics of sitting, such as when, how, how long, and more.
This Saturday, November 20 at 1pm, I will be offering an "Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation" workshop through Spirit of the Lake. The workshop will include:
- A concise overview of the benefits of meditation
- A introduction to some of the most widely-practiced techniques of mindfulness meditation
- Guided meditations to help you learn the foundations of meditation
- Suggestions for starting a daily meditation practice
This 90-minute, in-person class is suitable for people of all levels and experience. If you would like to join us, the cost is $25 and you can sign up here.
