duḥkhānuśayī dveṣaḥ

Aversion is the result of suffering

Terms

dvesha (aversion)
duhkha (suffering)

Background

This and 2.07 are the same sentence with two words swapped. Leaning toward and pushing away make up one habit that can move us in opposite directions, depending on past experiences. Aversion gets less airtime in yoga classes than attachment, though it does more work in our daily lives: the poses we skip, the people we avoid, or the conversations we decide can wait.
