Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu (Geoffrey DeGraff, born 1949) is an American Buddhist monk of the Thai Forest tradition and abbot of Metta Forest Monastery in San Diego County. He ordained in 1976 and trained under Ajaan Fuang Jotiko, a student of Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo. His prolific translations of the Pāli Canon, along with the daily talks, books, and study guides available at dhammatalks.org, have made him one of the most widely read Western Theravada teachers. His practical, breath-centered approach to meditation has had a big influence on how I practice.
