Georg Feuerstein (1947-2012) was a German-born Indologist who spent his career in England, the United States, and Canada writing about the history and philosophy of yoga. He wrote more than thirty books, among them The Yoga Tradition and The Philosophy of Classical Yoga, translated the Yoga Sūtras and the Bhagavad Gītā, and taught distance-learning courses through Traditional Yoga Studies. His scholarship keeps insisting that yoga is not one thing but many, a spread of traditions with different aims that sometimes contradict one another.
