Sandra Scherer (Dayashakti)

Sandra Scherer (1943–2003), known as Dayashakti, was a founding member of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, where she was a longtime teacher and program director. She joined the community in 1973 in Sumneytown, Pennsylvania, and moved with it to Lenox in 1983. With Grace MacLeod (Menka) she developed BRFWA (Breathe, Relax, Feel, Watch, Allow) one of the signature techniques of the Kripalu tradition. In 1993 she left Kripalu to found the Wave Work Institute, training therapists and counselors in a somatic approach integrating body, mind, and emotion.
