Background

When an old yoga or meditation technique stops working, you can't just wait for someone else to hand you a script. You have to exercise some ingenuity: experimenting with analogies, shifting perspectives, and staying flexible enough to find what actually resolves the block in the moment. It's the capacity to meet a situation with the right response rather than a memorized one, and it appears among the qualities of a skilled teacher.
