A day of practice devoted to goodwill, also called loving-kindness. Goodwill is the wish that you and the people around you be well. It isn’t a feeling you have to force. It’s a practice, and like any practice, it can be learned.
The day includes gentle yoga, yoga nidra, open conversations, and a shared potluck lunch. You’re always free to adapt or skip any part of the practice. Goodwill doesn’t require forcing anything.
Curious what goodwill practice sounds like? Listen to one of my goodwill meditations.
This day is for you if:
- You practice yoga and want to know what a longer day of practice and community feels like.
- You’d like to go on retreat but can’t take days off or travel to do it.
- You’d rather practice with other people than alone with an app.
- You’re curious about the practice of goodwill and want to try it in a supportive group.
- You could use a day of kindness toward yourself.
No experience required. You don’t need a regular practice, and you don’t need to be flexible or fit.
Schedule
We start at 9am with coffee and a circle, then move through gentle yoga and yoga nidra before a potluck lunch around noon. The afternoon has small-group conversation, writing, a second practice, and a closing circle.
Space Is Limited
It’s not a large space, so prior registration is required (no walk-ins). If all 12 spots are filled, you can join the waitlist. If you register and your plans change, tell me as early as you can so I can offer your spot to someone else.
Registration includes agreeing to the group agreements and a liability waiver. Please read both before you sign up.
What to Bring
- A yoga mat, if you have one. I have mats for anyone who needs one, so just let me know when you register.
- A blanket, plus a pillow or bolster if you have one. Yoga nidra is most comfortable with some support.
- A journal or notebook, since we’ll do some reflective writing. I’ll have paper and pens, too.
- Something for the potluck, enough to share with a dozen people. Lake Fellowship has refrigerators and an oven for warming. If your dish has common allergens, a note on it helps.
Getting There
Lake Fellowship is at 24575 Glen Road, off County Road 19, one mile west of downtown Excelsior. Free parking next to the A-frame, and a step-free entrance if stairs are a problem. Directions and more about the building are on the Lake Fellowship page.
